Students and instructors like the look and safety of these rubber knives. In the old days instructors would use the wooden tanto knife to practice disarms and knife defense techniques. The only problem with the wooden tanto knives is they would sometimes fly out of your partners hands and into a mirror and then break the mirror. These rubber knives are a little safer, although have your partner keep a firm grip on the weapon.
A more realistic knife also helps the students appreciate the reality of a knife defense situation.
- The curved knife is made of a stiff rubber and does not bend easily.
- The straight knife is softer and bends more easily.
