History of Ninjutsu

There is a secret and shrouded history to the martial art known as Ninjutsu. The information that is known is the result of stories that were passed down through the generations. This very secret style of martial art is said to have originated with families from the Koga region according to historical records.

While most of the Ninjutsu Ryu have now died out, over 70 of them have been identified through the years. Each individual Ryu appears to have its own unique set of techniques and skills. As these skills are no longer needed the Ryu fades away.

This art has been most closely affiliated with ancient Japanese ninjas. The secret life of the ninja is renowned worldwide. While almost no one knows the exact training regime of the ninja, it is known to be incredibly demanding. A real ninja will never reveal their secret identity.

Ninjas became very popular in the United States in the 1980s, which led to a proliferation of Ninjutsu instructors. These days it appears that the trend has all but died out as people are not that interested in learning this martial art.

Ninjutsu actually refers to a group of martial arts rather than one particular style, with each individual Ryu expressing its own view. Each Ryu will have its own area of focus.

There are many things involved in the art of Ninjutsu including armed and unarmed fighting styles, history, philosophy, and strategy. The few dojos that currently offer this martial art will usually have a very comprehensive teaching regime.

Posture and flow are the two main focuses of Ninjutsu during combat. Each reaction to a combatants move is specifically designed to put you in a position of strength. Having this position of strength can allow the stylist to transform a negative encounter into a positive one.

The Ninjutsu stylist is trained to gain power and leverage by using their entire body for everything they do. This secret and powerful martial art is very well known in Japan. This martial art combines power, self defense, and stealth. If you can find a dojo that teaches Ninjutsu it will be well worth your time to learn it.
