Kama

The Kama got its beginnings as a tool to cut down wheat and other types of vegetation. Today this weapon is used in pairs and is a favorite among tournament form competitors. Karate weapons are usually split up into long and short ranges. One particular short range piece of weaponry is the kama. The kama is used in pairs and will typically have holes in the blades to help with less wind resistance. Weapons may also be split up into bladed and non-bladed. Kamas as well as swords would be entered into the bladed version while the non bladed would consist of nunchakus and bo staffs. In the majority of training and forms competitions the bladed weapons are not sharp and are blunt for safety reasons. Use our kama with vented blades for training or kata competitions.
